Diet Claude — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
Diet Claude ("Diet Claude", "we", "us", "our") is a browser extension that helps you manage usage and context in the Claude web app (claude.ai). It is provided by Socia Tools Private Limited. This policy explains exactly what data Diet Claude handles, what stays on your device, what leaves it, and why.
We built Diet Claude to be local-first: the core features run entirely in your browser. The only time your content (chat titles, prompt text) leaves your device is when you click a feature that needs our server, as described below. Separately, unless you turn them off, Diet Claude sends anonymous, content-free diagnostic and usage signals — some of these are automatic rather than click-triggered (for example, a "the widget loaded" event when a Claude page opens). These never contain your content; see sections 3(c) and 3(d).
Summary (the short version)
- Most of what Diet Claude does — reading your usage, tracking context size, timers, settings — happens on your device and is never sent anywhere.
- Two features send data to our server only when you click them: Organize sends your chat titles, and Prompt Enhancer sends the draft prompt text you choose to improve.
- We never see or transmit your Claude conversations' contents (beyond a prompt you explicitly enhance), your Claude account password, or your Claude login/session tokens. The optional "search inside chats" feature reads your messages to build a search index, but that index stays on your device — it is never sent to us.
- We do not sell your data, run ads, or use it to build advertising profiles.
- The "Continue in another AI" handoff summarizes your open Claude chat (using your own Claude session, on your device) and types that summary into the message box of a tool you choose (ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok). The summary is never sent to us — it goes to that tool only if you send it there, under that tool's own terms.
- Optional, anonymous error reports help us fix the extension when claude.ai changes; you can turn these off.
- Anonymous, content-free usage analytics (which features get used — never your content) help us decide what to improve; on by default, and you can turn them off.
- If you join the early-access waitlist on our marketing website, we store the email address you submit (in our database) so we can notify you when access opens — you can ask us to delete it.
1. Who we are
Diet Claude is provided by Socia Tools Private Limited. Contact: admin@socia.tools
2. Data that stays on your device (never transmitted)
The following is stored locally in your browser (via the browser's extension storage / memory) and is not sent to us or anyone else:
- Your Claude usage readings (session and weekly limit percentages and reset times), read from claude.ai's own interface.
- An on-device estimate of your current conversation's size (context weight), computed by reading the page you're already viewing.
- Your settings and preferences (which features are on, notification preferences).
- Your saved prompt templates.
- Diagnostics (a self-check of whether features still work after claude.ai updates).
- The "undo" text for the Prompt Enhancer, held in memory only.
- The "search inside chats" index — if you use it, Diet Claude reads your chats' message text (from your own Claude session) to build a local search index so you can find chats by words inside them. This index is stored only in your browser and is never sent to us or anyone else. It is on by default, and it grows two ways: a bulk build you start by clicking "Index chats", and passively as you browse — the text of a chat you have open is added as you read it. You can switch the feature off in settings ("Search inside chats"), and removing the extension deletes the index.
- The "Continue in another AI" handoff summary — when you click a tool in the handoff, Diet Claude asks your open Claude chat to summarize itself (via your own Claude session, the same way "Summarize & continue" works) and holds that summary in local storage only long enough to hand it to the tool you chose — it is discarded once that tool has been filled in, and any leftover copy is cleared after a short time or the next time you open Diet Claude's menu. The same summary is also copied to your clipboard at that moment, as a fallback so you can paste it yourself if the tool's message box has changed; that means it sits in your system clipboard until you copy something else. It is not sent to us.
You can clear all of this at any time by removing the extension.
3. Data sent off your device
Diet Claude transmits your content (chat titles / prompt text) to us only when you actively trigger one of the click-based backend features below (a and b). The "Continue in another AI" handoff (e) creates a chat summary that stays on your device unless you choose to send it to the third-party AI tool you picked — it is never sent to us. The only other data that leaves your device is the anonymous, content-free error and usage-analytics signals in 3(c)–3(d) — these carry no chat content and you can turn them off.
a) Organize / Club Chats — When you click Organize, Diet Claude sends the titles of your chats (text only — never the messages inside them) to our backend server, which uses an AI service to group them into categories. The result is shown to you and is not stored.
b) Prompt Enhancer — When you click Enhance, Diet Claude sends the draft prompt text currently in your message box (text only — no file attachments) to our backend server, which uses an AI service to return an improved version. Your original text is kept only in your browser so you can undo.
c) Error reporting (optional) — If enabled, Diet Claude sends anonymous diagnostic reports when a feature breaks (for example, a label such as enhance: failed to fetch). These reports do not contain your chat titles, prompt text, usage numbers, or any message content. Where a report carries an error message produced by our own server, that message is passed along as written, stripped of any chat identifier and truncated. You can disable error reporting at any time in Diet Claude's settings.
d) Usage analytics (optional) — Diet Claude sends anonymous, aggregate usage events to Google Analytics so we can see which features are used and what to improve — for example a feature-name label such as enhance_success, organize_open, or tour_complete, plus coarse, non-identifying counts (e.g. how many chats were grouped, or that a 90% usage alert fired). These events are sent with a random per-install identifier and never include your chat titles, prompt text, conversation contents, Claude account information, page URLs, or any personal identifier. Usage analytics is on by default; you can opt out any time in Diet Claude's settings (Privacy → Usage analytics).
e) Continue in another AI (handoff) — When you click ChatGPT / Gemini / Grok in the handoff, Diet Claude opens that tool in a new tab and types your Claude-chat summary into its message box (using a content script that runs on chatgpt.com (including its chat.openai.com domain), gemini.google.com, and grok.com only for this purpose — it does nothing on a normal visit). The summary is not sent to us; it reaches that AI provider only if you choose to send it, at which point it is handled under that provider's terms and privacy policy (OpenAI, Google, or xAI). Diet Claude requests access to those three sites solely to place your summary in the box for you. If usage analytics is on, completing a handoff also sends one content-free event recording which tool you chose and whether the box was filled successfully — never the summary itself. Note that writing the summary uses your own Claude session, so it spends one message of your Claude allowance and adds that summary as a turn in the chat you summarized.
f) Early-access waitlist (our marketing website — not the extension) — If you enter your email in the "Get early access" form on our website (a separate page from the extension), that email address is sent to our backend and stored in our database so we can notify you when access opens. We store only the email address, the time submitted, and a "website" source tag — nothing from your Claude account or conversations. You can request deletion at any time (admin@socia.tools).
We do not transmit: your conversation contents, attachments, Claude account credentials, or Claude session/authentication tokens.
4. Third parties / sub-processors
To provide the click-triggered features above, data is processed by:
- Our backend server (operated by Socia Tools Private Limited on our own server infrastructure) — receives chat titles / prompt text only to forward them to the AI service, and does not store your titles, prompts, or conversation content. (Separately, if you join the early-access waitlist on our website, the same backend stores the email address you submit — see 3(f) — in a MongoDB database.)
- Our third-party AI provider — processes the titles/prompts solely to generate the grouping or rewrite, and does not use this data to train its models. We use our own paid AI account; your Claude subscription, session, or tokens are never used.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — receives the optional anonymous error reports described in 3(c).
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) — receives the optional anonymous, content-free usage-analytics events described in 3(d). Sent with a random per-install id; no chat content, page URLs, or personal identifiers.
5. Analytics
Diet Claude uses Google Analytics 4 for anonymous, aggregate usage analytics, so we can understand which features are used and improve Diet Claude. Events are content-free — they contain only feature-name labels and coarse, non-identifying counts (e.g. enhance_success, organize_open, how many chats were grouped, or that a usage alert fired), sent with a random per-install identifier. They never include your chat titles, prompt text, conversation contents, Claude account information, page URLs, or other personal identifiers. Analytics is delivered from the extension's background worker via Google's Measurement Protocol; it is on by default and you can opt out any time in Diet Claude's settings (Privacy → Usage analytics). Our Chrome Web Store data disclosures reflect this. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles or track your browsing.
6. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use your data for advertising or to build user profiles.
- We do not track your general browsing or your activity on claude.ai.
- We do not access, store, or transmit your Claude login credentials or session tokens.
- We do not read or send your conversation contents (other than a prompt you explicitly choose to enhance).
7. Data retention
- On-device data: kept until you delete it or remove the extension.
- Backend (extension features): chat titles and prompts are processed in transit and not stored by us.
- Early-access waitlist email: kept until we launch and contact you (or you ask us to delete it).
- AI provider: processes data only to generate the result; not used to train models.
- Sentry: anonymous error reports are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted.
- Google Analytics: anonymous, aggregate usage events are retained per our Google Analytics data-retention setting (up to 14 months).
8. Security
Data sent to our server is transmitted over HTTPS. We don't store your chat titles, prompts, or conversation content, so there is no database of your Claude content to breach. The only data we retain is the email address you submit if you join the early-access waitlist on our website.
9. Your choices and controls
- Turn features off: every feature, including notifications, error reporting, and usage analytics, can be toggled in Diet Claude's settings popup (usage analytics is under Privacy → Usage analytics).
- Don't trigger off-device features: Organize and Prompt Enhancer only send data when you click them.
- Uninstall: removing the extension deletes all locally stored Diet Claude data.
10. Children
Diet Claude is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. International transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the click-triggered features, you understand your data may be processed in these locations.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the extension or its store listing.
13. Contact
